We're getting married on a mountain, just the two of us. Then we'd love to celebrate with you.
Why Colorado
Us, a mountain, and maybe a marmot
We wanted our wedding to feel like us. Not a performance, not a production. Just the two of us, making promises to each other somewhere unforgettable.
From the 1st to the 15th of September, we're heading to the US for a road trip across the Southwest. We'll say our vows at Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado, looking out over the foothills and the plains beyond, then spend two weeks hiking and biking our way through the Rockies, Moab, Bryce Canyon, and beyond.
We know this isn't what you expected. You'd normally be there, and we love you for wanting to be. But we wanted this one moment to be completely, quietly ours.
What we do want is to celebrate with everyone we care about when we're home. That's where you come in.
The Road Trip
Two weeks, three states
After the ceremony we're hitting the road. Two weeks through some of the most dramatic landscapes on Earth, looping through Colorado, Utah, and Arizona.
September 1
Denver, Colorado
Land, pick up the car, catch our breath.
The Ceremony
September 2
Lookout Mountain, Golden
Just us and the view. The moment we become married. Then a scenic drive up through Nederland to Estes Park.
September 2–4
Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park
Alpine lakes, elk, and Trail Ridge Road at 12,000 feet.
September 4–6
Moab, Utah
Arches, red rock, desert sunsets.
September 7–8
Bryce Canyon
An amphitheatre of stone pillars, thousands of them.
September 8–9
Antelope Canyon & Lake Powell
Sculpted sandstone, Horseshoe Bend, water in the desert.
September 10
Monument Valley
The one you've seen in every Western. Then Four Corners, Mesa Verde, and ancient cliff dwellings.
September 11
Ouray, Colorado
The Switzerland of America, hot springs.
September 12–15
Return Home
Back to Swansea. Start planning the party.
The Reception
This is the bit with you in it
We didn't want to get married without celebrating with the people who matter most to us. So we're throwing a proper party when we get home.
No ceremony, no formalities, just good food, good drinks, surrounded by friends and family.
If you fancy making a weekend of it, you're more than welcome. The venue is right on the seafront, we'll be around for dog walks along the beach on Saturday, and we'll be booking a big roast on Sunday. (Fish & Chips for Beth)
Your being there is the only gift we want. But if you'd like to contribute to our adventure fund, it'll go straight toward national park passes, desert diners, and very questionable motel coffee.
