We're eloping, and here's why
We wanted our wedding to feel like us. Not a performance, not a production, just the two of us making promises to each other somewhere that takes our breath away.
Colorado is one of a handful of places in the world where you can legally marry yourselves, no officiant or witnesses required. It's called self-solemnization, and it felt right. We'll say our vows at Lookout Mountain, overlooking the foothills and the plains beyond, with nobody watching except maybe a marmot or two.
We know this might not be what you expected. Traditionally you'd be there, and we love you for wanting to be. But we wanted this one moment to be completely, quietly ours. What we absolutely do want is to celebrate with everyone we care about, and that's where you come in.
